I designed and continue to maintain the Office of Government Relations website, built on the WordPress platform. While serving as the office’s primary external communication channel, the site also integrates a suite of custom-built tools that support key initiatives. The system is structured to empower both users and content managers, enabling quick updates and seamless functionality without requiring technical expertise.
The Government Relations Website serves as far more than a platform for sharing news and events. In addition to presenting the office’s identity and acting as the “front door” of the university to many legislators and community members, it equips the team with a variety of practical tools. From quickly deploying form emails and collecting data to generating customized displays for internal use, the site supports a wide range of outreach and engagement efforts.
Each year, the office conducts a major data collection initiative designed to highlight the university’s impact on the state. This effort brings together a broad array of information that demonstrates the institution’s contributions to local communities, the economy, and beyond.
The collected data is then translated into district-level profiles that communicate the university’s value directly to legislators and alumni. These tailored resources make it possible to show, in concrete terms, how the university benefits each district across the state.
This functionality is accessible to the team through a login.
In addition, the site features a curated collection of facts and figures that fall outside standard datasets but still capture the university’s importance. Together, these resources provide a clear, compelling narrative that supports the university’s mission and strengthens its relationships with stakeholders.
